If you're looking for a beautiful botanical garden to spend the day, look no further than Janesville Rotary Botanical Gardens! This stunning garden is located in Wisconsin, near Madison, and features a variety of plants, flowers, and trees. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of botanical specimens and plenty of birds and butterflies. There is a fee to enter, but it includes playgrounds, ponds, and plenty of areas for picnics. We love visiting the grounds and try to get there at least once a year.

In 1988, Dr. Robert Yahr, the garden's founder, approached the two Rotary Clubs in Janesville to see if they were interested in developing the area into a botanical garden that the community could enjoy. Both clubs agreed to the service project and found that the project far surpassed Dr. Yahr's original idea to clean up the pond and surrounding area. Previously, the Parks Department used the site as storage and a BMX bicycle racetrack.

The 2022 admission fees are as follows:

Adult (age 16+) $9.00

Senior (age 65+) $7.00

Youth (age 6 – 15) $5.00

Military (with ID) $6.00

Child (under 6) Free

In addition to free on-site parking, you can shop in the Cottage Garden Gallery without paying an admission fee. They offer light refreshments and snacks available to purchase.

To make a day out of it, you are welcome to bring food and dine outside on the Terrace Garden, where you will find chairs, tables, and umbrellas. There are no indoor dining areas. The Gardens do ask that you take home any garbage with you.

If you are interested in visiting, check the events page, as there are monthly events for children and grown-ups. They offer a monthly story time and stroll for the kids. Additionally, A few times a month, there are special horticultural events for adults to attend to learn more about what's in bloom, plant identification, and some craft projects.

Whether traveling through Janesville or you live nearby, I highly recommend spending a day at Rotary Gardens. You won't be disappointed!
